Every week City Gates, in partnership with local businesses and organizations, takes to the streets of downtown Olympia to meet with people and handout tangible items desperately needed by those living in poverty. On average, 150-200 people attend their Street Lights event. Providers agree that it is less costly to keep a family in their home than it is to obtain other housing once they have become homeless. Additionally, the cost of tax supported public services is higher for the homeless. City Gates works tirelessly to help families in need stay fed, warm, healthy, and in their homes.
